Lawns on a Lakeside Ranch
Hydroseeding in Lakeway means working on hills that run down to the water. The city sits next to Lake Travis, and Hurst Creek runs directly through it before emptying into the lake just to the north. Steep yards, lake views and short, fast drainage paths are the norm here, and they shape how we seed.
A resort town from a ranch
Lakeway began as a 2,700-acre ranch. In 1962 a group of Houston hotel men took an option on the land to build a resort community, the hotel opened in 1963, and a land company started selling lots. The city incorporated in 1974. Many yards here were built around golf fairways and open lawns, and decades later those lawns need renovation, overseeding and repair.
Steep lots and the lake
Runoff from a Lakeway lot has a short trip to Hurst Creek or the lake. On new construction or a remodel that disturbs a slope, we put silt fence at the bottom, then cover the slope with hydromulch, bonded fiber matrix or straw blankets depending on how steep it is. The goal is to get roots in before the next big storm.
Limestone underfoot
Like the rest of the hills west of Austin, Lakeway sits on limestone with thin topsoil. Grass on these lots dries out quickly in summer. A few inches of topsoil and good seed-to-soil contact matter more here than almost anywhere in the metro.
Still growing
Lakeway's population rose from 11,391 in 2010 to 19,189 in 2020. New homes, a hospital campus on RM 620 and commercial building all add disturbed ground that needs seeding.

Lakeway Questions
Can you hydroseed a steep yard that slopes to the lake?
Yes. We match the product to the slope, from standard hydromulch to bonded fiber matrix or blankets on the steepest parts.
My older lawn by the golf course is thinning. Do I need to start over?
Not always. If the soil is healthy, aeration and overseeding can bring it back. Where weeds or bare dirt have taken over most of the yard, starting fresh with a full renovation is often the better call.
Will my Lakeway pool or retaining wall job need silt fence?
On a sloped lot near the creek or lake it is a smart idea, and it may be required by your permit.
Can a truck reach my backyard?
Our hoses reach a long way. Tell us about gates, steps and walls when you ask for an estimate.
