Seeding Above the Caves
Hydroseeding in Georgetown has to account for what is under the ground as much as what grows on it. The city lies on both sides of the Balcones Escarpment. East of I-35 is flat Blackland Prairie with black, fertile soil. West of it is hilly karst limestone with little topsoil, full of caves, sinkholes and fissures. Inner Space Cavern is the famous example, but smaller openings run throughout the west side.
Protected species in the fissures
Georgetown is home to five endangered species. Some are invertebrates found only in Williamson County, living in the cave-like fissures on the west side of the city. In the 1990s, landowners and developers formed a council to identify and preserve caves with these species. On west-side sites we keep sediment out of open fissures and drainage paths, which is one more reason silt fence and fast hydromulch cover are worth the effort.
The San Gabriel forks
The North and Middle Forks of the San Gabriel River both run through the city, with more than 30 miles of hike and bike trails along their banks. Lots and projects that drain toward the river are prime places for erosion control blankets and a bonded fiber matrix on steeper banks.
Lessons from 1921
In 1921 a hurricane remnant dropped more than 18 inches of rain on Georgetown, and the flooding killed 156 people in the county. The Army Corps of Engineers later built a dam on the North Fork, and Lake Georgetown opened in 1979. Heavy rain is not a rare event here, so we plan seeding and sediment control as if a big storm is coming.
Wildflowers on purpose
Georgetown is known as the Red Poppy Capital of Texas, with poppies planted throughout the city and a festival every April. That makes it a natural place for wildflower seeding and native grass seeding on larger lots, HOA open space and roadside areas, alongside turf where people actually walk.
Lawns for Sun City and beyond
Sun City Texas covers about 5,300 acres west of I-35, mostly single-family homes. Lawn repair, overseeding and renovation for established yards are steady needs there and across older neighborhoods.

Georgetown Questions
Can you hydroseed red poppies or other wildflowers?
Yes. Wildflower and native grass seed can be applied by hydroseeder. Timing matters, so ask us about the right season for the mix you want.
My lot is west of I-35 and rocky. Will grass grow?
It can, but thin soil over limestone dries out fast. We often recommend topsoil first and a heavier mulch to hold moisture.
How close to the river can you work?
Wherever you have the right to work and any required approvals. Near the banks we use blankets or bonded fiber matrix rather than light mulch.
Do you seed in Sun City?
Yes. We handle lawn repair, overseeding and full renovations, and we work within community guidelines you share with us.
Why put silt fence on a small residential job?
Because sediment travels. On the karst side it can wash into fissures and drainage paths, and on any lot it ends up in the street or a neighbor's yard.
